Description of Tolfedine

Tolfedine is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory of the fenamate class used for the treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory condition in dogs and cats.
Its active principle, Tolfenamic acid, plays a double role on prostaglandins:
• inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis from arachidonic acid.
 inhibition of tissue response to prostaglandins by occupation of receptor sites

Ingredients in Tolfedine

Tablets: Tolfenamic Acid 20 mg/tablet
Injectable solution: Tolfenamic Acid 40 mg/mL

Directions for use of Tolfedine

Tolfedine Tablets The recommended dosage is 4mg Tolfenamic acid per kg body weight once daily by oral administration with food for 3 to 5 days. Each 20mg tablet treats 5kg bodyweight. Tolfedine Injectable 4mg/kg (1mL/10kg) to be given once daily by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection for a maximum of 5 days. A suggested administration regime is an initial treatment with Tolfedine Injectable followed 24 hours or 48 hours later by Tolfedine Tablets for up to 3 to 5 days.
